Well, we’re back in school. I hope everybody had an awesome break, cause I know I did. This happiness was broken however last night. Turns out I need to download something to use the wireless internet that VCU provides. No big problem, right? WRONG! Turns out my computer is being stupid and won’t let me download anything. So I have to come all the way to the Monroe Campus library from MCV to do anything on the internet. I hope this thing doesn’t last forever because that just wouldn’t be fun. Well, see everybody Weds.
So, I was really dissappointed today when the snow didn’t stick. I have been waiting ever since Winter started to at least have some snow stick, but since that hasn’t happend, I guess I’ll have to keep waiting. Anyway, today wasn’t too bad. I went to my 3 classes, downloaded some more songs onto my ruckus file, and did some more stuff that I’ll probably remember later.
Oh, and by the way, I’m not sure if I’m doing this blog thing right, having never done it before. I see everybody else has their name up top, and I’m not sure if I should have one, or if I do have one and just don’t know it.
So, the other day, I had a guy come up to me in the student commons and ask me what Jesus ment to me. Now, I’m a pretty religious person, but I find it a bit awkward to talk to people about my religion, especially to strangers. It’s not even a topic that comes up in conversations with my friends, so imagine what it would be like to talk about it with a complete stranger. After about 3 minutes talking with him about it, I finally had to lie and say I had to go to class. I don’t know if anyone else has had this problem, but if you haven’t, watch out, because they can go on forever. So, think of some good escape lies right now so you can have some in your arsenal.
Last Friday, I went to a guitar shop that’s WAY down Broad Street to exchange the guitar that I got for Christmas for a better, slightly more expensive guitar of the same brand. I really like the new one that I got, not only because it sounds great, but because of the color. The guitar is black, which really jumped out at me, partly because it reminds me of Johnny Cash’s guitar, but mostly because it was uninique. I mean, you just don’t see many black guitars. I also got a book that has some pieces that Bach wrote that were transcribed for guitar, so I would have something to read instead of playing thing by memory (“Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd, “Old Love” by Eric Clapton, “Paint It Black” by The Rolling Stones, etc.)
My day wasn’t too bad, but there were some things that weren’t cool. For starters, my 8 am class (meaning I have to get up at 6 am) is keyboarding, and I’m not crazy about the teacher (not naming any names). For those of you who don’t know the teacher that I’m referring to, she makes us do this weird phrasing thing with our wrists that is likely to give us carpal tunnel in the future from all of the repetative motion. I didn’t do that last semester, so I basically have to re-learn everything that I did last semester, like scales and all of the other techniques. So I got that going on. I also had a quiz in Music Theory, which at best, I got a low B on.
Other than those two things, my day was relatively good. I spent some time with my two friends from high school, Mike and Patrick. I also watched some stuff on Youtube. One video that really stood out to me was watching a live preformance of “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd. I really liked this one because I’ve been trying to teach it to myself by ear on my guitar for about 3 weeks on and off, and there was always this one spot that got me. After seeing it done, I now have a better picture of how to do it.
Any way, it’s time for this old coot to get to bed. Night all.
My day did not start off too good. I got sick right before my first class, so I was late to that. I also missed Orchestra and barely got through Pre-Cal ( I only went because there was a quiz today).
However, I did get some to to sleep in the time between Music Theory and Pre-Cal, which helped. I also got see one of my friends that I hadn’t seen since summer two years ago on my way to the bus stop from lunch. We talked for about 5 minutes and then she had to go to class. So, I guess the day wasn’t all bad, apart from me being sick.
Not much happened to me this week. It was all just a regular week for me with only a couple of things that were worth mentioning. I got sick over the week, which only lasted a day, I went home to take care of some business, and while I was home, I went to check out some of my troop-mates from my old Boy Scout troop who were on a camping trip. It was fun because I got to catch up with everyone who I had known for the past 5 years and who helped me get my Eagle badge.
Other than those things, my week has been pretty dull. I hope that this next week will be better and have more surprises.

What do you have to download in order to use the wireless? What did you use all last semester?
Hey,
Turns out I fixed my internet and computer problem last night, so that problem is all taken care of.
